Environment Works – Advanced Environment Modeling

This was one of the exercise that I really enjoy during my attendance at Zbrushworkshop Environmental 3D Design with David Lesperance. It was a simple exercise of creating a mock up of an environment utilizing tools such as Zbrush, xNormal, Maya and Photoshop, which later on you will need to add more detail into it. I started off creating a piece of rock which I dynamesh multiple of times. Then I duplicated and merged a whole bunch of them to create the mountain below. I was able to using some of the Zbrush texturing tools and xNormal to extract out the texture map, normal, and bump maps. The background mountain is generated by World-Machine. Foregrounds are part of World-Machine models and part MAYA Paint effect’s tree branches. The render is done in Mental Ray then put together in Photoshop.

As much as I like this piece, I was never able to go back to this piece and add additional details. That was the tough part of take 2 classes at the same time T_T However I do enjoy my time with David and hoping to get back to this and finish it 🙂
